Hayley

Our Director and where it all started! After finishing her degree in Mathematics for the University of Reading she went into the financial industry but felt this wasn’t making the most of her degree.

Hayley was missing the excitement of the education system & learning maths - but not exams & tests! Nobody likes exams right?!

That is when Hayley Booth maths tutoring was born, which as the team grew we shortened to HB Tuition!

Hayley’s aim to not only help students understand Maths but gain more confidence in their abilities and begin to enjoy the different aspects of Maths. Her lessons are relaxed with no pressure and as enjoyable as possible while still tackling some really hard questions!

Andrew

Andrew joined Hayley in 2019 and became a joint director of our family owned and run tuition business. Since coming onboard, Andrew has ensured the quality of our tutors are degree educated. Each tutor completes a child welfare safeguarding check, understands and complies with company processess and procedures, and to maintain our expected high standards.

Andrew leads HB Tuition across all areas of the business, from day-to-day operations to long-term strategy. He works closely with our financial team to keep everything running smoothly and sustainably. He’s also passionate about building strong relationships in the local community, working with families, schools and organisations to make sure students get the support they need. Andrew’s always looking for ways to grow and improve what we do, so we can help even more learners reach their potential.

Millie

Our English expert Millie is a fantastic asset to our team! Millie offers both English & Maths tuition, online and face-to-face lessons, she brings a warm and welcoming positive attitude.

As with all of our tutors, Millie excels in academia. She is passionate about education and truely wants to see every one of her students thrive.

Millie takes great enjoyment in making resources and revision sheets for both Maths and English. Our students love her maths games that are tailored to a students current level and increasing the difficulty as they become more confident with the topic. For English, Millie enjoys making informative resources on particular techniques for student’s revision or to have ready for when we next come across the concept.

Millie focuses on tailoring each session to the individual and ensuring that each session progresses from the last to avoid the ‘forgetting curve.’ We know this guarantees improvement and avoids any students feeling defeated when they return to particular topics.

A big thing for Millie is that she views tutoring as a hobby more than a job! Education and exploring new ways of teaching is her passion and she feels her approach to tutoring shows this. Millie has a vast experience of teaching in classrooms and private 1-2-1 tutoring. Each student is inherently different and will progress differently, she finds it very rewarding to work with all students and finding the best approach that suits each student.

Fenn

Let's introduce our Maths and Computer Science specialist...

Fenn takes a relaxed and playful approach to tutoring, showing students the weird and interesting side to maths and science they won't get to see in a classroom. With plenty of interactive examples and real-life applications, Fenn cultivates a curiosity and passion for even the most boring subjects and tailors each lesson to their student's individual interests and learning style.

Fenn focusses on building confidence in maths and science as well as enjoying the sessions. they have lots of experience with exams and test papers so can help students organise revision and know how to get the most out of exams.

With four A*'s in A-Level Maths, Further Maths, Computer Science, and Physics and a first class master's degree in Computer Science, Fenn's been though the academic wringer more than once. Because of this, Fenn knows better than anyone the importance slowing down and having fun with learning, which is why they put their knowledge to work making and publishing video games in their spare time.

Etiene

Etiene specialises in Maths & English, who is currently studying for a BSc in Mathematics at the University of Warwick, Etiene combine a strong academic background with a warm, approachable teaching style that makes learning both effective and enjoyable.

Etiene is passionate about making Maths & English engaging and accessible for students of all ages. His love of learning is infectious as she calmly explains even the most difficult topics.

With top grades in Maths and Further Maths at A-Level and a deep understanding of analytical problem-solving, Etiene is well-equipped to break down complex topics into clear, manageable steps. His strong English skills also enable me to support students in essay writing, comprehension, and language analysis, ensuring they build both confidence and competence in their studies.

Etiene has firsthand experience teaching students, helping them excel and gain confidence. His patient and encouraging nature helps all our students thrive.

Etiene understands that every student is unique, and so, he tailors all sessions to suit different learning styles. His focus is on creating a structured but flexible approach, making sure each lesson builds on the last for steady, long-term progress. Whether through custom revision resources, interactive exercises, or engaging discussions, Etiene ensures students stay motivated and see real improvement.

Etiene is more than just a tutor, he's a mentor who genuinely enjoys seeing students succeed. Etiene approaches teaching with enthusiasm, patience, and adaptability, helping learners develop not just academic skills, but also a positive mindset towards their education.

Oliver

No one knows how to be a HB tutor better than Oli and that’s because he was once a student himself!

Oliver understands the importance of building confidence in maths and how that can quickly improve grades. This is why he went on to get an A in a level maths and a B in A level further maths. Since then he’s gone on to study motorsport engineering. It’s safe to say, with more confidence, Oli is now an expert in maths.

What we like most about Oli though is his pure love of all things maths, he makes everyone’s least favourite subject fun!

His lessons are engaging, enjoyable and very relaxed.

Efe

Efe tutors Maths, Chemistry and Biology at HB tuition.

He understands the importance of building confidence in each subject as he was once a HB student himself. With our support he managed to achieve fantastic A levels (A*, A*, A and B) and go on to study chemistry at University College London.

As Efe knows both sides of the tutoring experience at HB Tuition, he is able to sympathise with the hurdles students can face and is able to help our students overcome those difficulties.

He creates personalised plans and uses seemingly unconventional ways to help our students understand and memorise even the most challenging concepts.

Efe has an infectious love of learning which makes all his lessons fun and engaging.
